The Arab region is one of the most water scarce areas in the world, and both urban and rural areas face water challenges. Some urban and rural areas in Lebanon and Jordan, in particular, experience extreme pressure on water availability, which is exacerbated by climate change, the unprecedented influx of Displaced Persons (DPs), and groundwater over-extraction and pollution.
